Balcony to the Atlantic
We will explore a small village with the charm that characterizes the Canarian atmosphere, surrounded by tropical crops, like a small oasis amidst deep ravines. We will ascend to almost 400m on a respectable slope of this hand-made path, carved like a sculpture in the tuff, the predominant volcanic material. After the effort required by this short route due to its steep slope, we will be impressed by the view from this solitary and special lookout point overlooking the coast of Santa Cruz.
The Essentials
• This route is within the Anaga Massif, starting in Igueste de San Andrés until reaching the ruins of the so-called Traffic Light, an old watchtower for maritime trade surveillance to Santa Cruz.
• We will climb a steep slope of almost 350m elevation gain along a road, built at the time for the passage of carts pulled by mules when this unique building was constructed.
